Thought that these were best filed away somewhere off the main page. Here be ye contest results from way back last year when we ran the big fan art contest. Complete with my original text! (Read: didn't change from when I posted it originally)
After much deliberation, we have finished judging the Miss Mars Fan Art Contest. Before I talk about the results, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for the usual things. Sorry if this sort of speech is becoming a little too oft-recurring, and a little too samey, but you can just scroll down if you're not interested. I want to thank everyone who entered for at least trying. And I really want to thank the winners especially, all of you are very deserving. I am once again regretful that there could only be one first place (Saburo and I had to argue for quite a while to decide who got the spot, so it was a pretty close thing), but very thankful to Saburo that this time there are at least three prizes, as all the top three are richly deserving. We have ranked six places, as you will see shortly, sadly only the top three will get a prize. We felt it necessary to recognise the efforts of those who came close but didn't quite make it, because they did really well, and could have won were the circumstances different. Also thanks to anyone who read the story especially to compete, I know there's at least one person who did, and it showed us how serious people were about this contest. But I'm getting on a bit now, so without further ado, the rankings:
In case there's any confusion, yes, there were two fourth place winners. When taking into account art, concept, and grasp of the characters, we found Lightfoot and Kazuv's entries to be equal, and as such they both got the same position.
All the winning entries can be found in the Miss Mars Gallery. Runners up are also in the gallery, however, at the start of the contest we made it clear that we had some quality standards, and made attempts to discourage people from entering if they were clearly going to fall short of those standards. One or two people have fallen short, both in terms of art, and character understanding. As such, their entries are not amongst those on the site. I am thankful to say, though, that this will not apply to many, and almost everyone who entered will be able to see their entry counted.
